When it comes to cashing checks, there are a few different options available to consumers. Some people choose to go to their bank, while others may opt for a check-cashing service.
Martin’s supermarket is now offering check-cashing services at certain locations, which may be a convenient option for some people. Here we will take a look at what you need to know about this new service.
Does Martin’s Cash Checks?
Yes, you can cash a check at any Martin’s store. If you visit any Martin’s store location near you, you will find a device next to the register with a U-shaped track through which they run any check handled to the cashier.
The U-shaped track device will read the numbers on the check, and transmit them to the ChexSystems or check verification service to have your cash.
By 2021, Martins could only cash personal and payroll checks.
At Martin’s stores, you might be required to prove you are a regular customer of the supermarket company by presenting a store loyalty card.
This condition is made to limit the store’s risk so that if something happens and the check gets returned, they have your contact information and some degree of assurance that you will be back.
You will also need to pay a fee for the cash check service, which can either be a flat fee or vary based on the check amount you intend to cash.
When you present your check, the grocery store may also scan it for a third-party acceptance service which verifies whether the check is valid.
The service takes the information from the scanned check and compares it to the information stored in its database, including your account history with Martin’s store.
